Acupressure Points for Depression
Acupressure is an effective natural method to help reduce depression and anxiety by applying pressure to specific acupressure points on the body. The following are the commonly used acupressure points to reduce depression that you can do on your own. Instead of using your fingers, you can also use a tool called an acupressure pen, which is a pen-like tool with a small rounded end. Once you master this simple self-care technique, you can use it anytime and anywhere.

Laogong (PC8)
Laogong, also known as Palace of Toil, is often used to reduce stress. It is located on the palm side of the hand, in the center of the palm, just below the middle finger. Use your thumb or forefinger and apply pressure or you can do circular motion with finger.
Baihui (GV20)
Baihui, also known as Hundred Meeting, can be effective in relieving insomnia, depression and anxiety. It is located at the top of the head. Press it gently for about 1 minute. Then, release your finger for about 30 seconds, and repeat the process for few times.

Tanzhong (CV17)
Tanzhong, also known as Middle of the Chest, can be used to reduce depression. It is located on the sternum at the level of the 4th intercostal space, the space between two ribs. Press it gently with your thumb or forefinger and applying pressure using small circular motions.
Hegu (LI4)
Hegu, also known as Union Valley, can be used to relieve headaches and stress due to depression and anxiety. It is located on the highest spot of the muscle when the thumb and forefinger are brought close together. Use your thumb and apply pressure or you can do circular motion with thumb. This procedure should have been repeated for the other hand.

Neiguan (PC6)
Neiguan, also known as Inner Gate, can be used to relieve depression and anxiety. It is located in the middle of the wrist, about two finger widths below the palm. Use your thumb or forefinger to press on it for 2 to 3 minutes. This procedure should have been repeated for the other wrist.
Shenmen (HT7)
Shenmen, also known as Spirit Gate, can help calm your mind. It is located at the ulnar end of the distal wrist crease when the palm faces upward, on the radial side of flexor carpi ulnaris tendon. Use your thumb and apply pressure or you can do circular motion with thumb. This procedure should have been repeated for the other wrist.
Taichong (LR3)
Taichong, also known as Supreme Rush, can be used to reduce depression and insomnia. It is located on your foot about two finger widths above the place where the skin of your big toe and the next toe join. Use your thumb and apply pressure or you can do circular motion with thumb. You may feel a little soreness. This procedure should have been repeated for the other foot.
