Acupressure Points for Edema in Feet


Acupressure is an effective natural method to help reduce edema in feet by applying pressure to specific acupressure points on the body. The following are the commonly used acupressure points for edema in feet that you can do on your own. Instead of using your fingers, you can also use a tool called an acupressure pen, which is a pen-like tool with a small rounded end. Taixi (KI3)

Taixi, also known as Great Stream, can reduce swelling in the ankles and feet. It is located on the medial aspect of the foot, posterior to the medial malleolus, in the depression between the tip of the medial malleolus and tendo calcaneus. Use your thumb and apply pressure or you can do circular motion with thumb.

Fuliu (KI7)

Fuliu, also known as Recover Flow, can be used to relieve swelling and pain of the ankles and feet. It is located on the medial aspect of the lower leg, anterior to tendo calcaneus, directly above Taixi. Use your thumb and apply pressure or you can do circular motion with thumb.

Yongquan (KI1)

Yongquan, also known as Gushing Spring, can be used to relieve joint pain and swelling in feet. It is located on the sole of the foot, between the second and third metatarsal bones, approximately one third of the distance between the base of the second toe and the heel, in a depression formed when the foot is plantar flexed. Use your thumb or forefinger and apply pressure or you can do circular motion with finger.

Kunlun (BL60)

Kunlun is an acupressure point that can be used to relieve swelling in the ankles and feet. It is located in a depression midway between the tip of the lateral malleolus and the outer edge of the achilles tendon. Use your thumb or forefinger and apply pressure or you can do circular motion with finger.
