Undergraduate Study Programmes:

SBC provides students with a choice of different study orientations. Chinese students and Non-Native English speaking students are normally required to enter SBC Year 1 (UK Year 0) and they must choose between business and engineering subjects. However international students with recognized English language and academic qualifications may be permitted direct entry to SBC Year 2 (UK University Year1).

During SBC Year 1 (UK Year 0), students will learn the basic skills that they need to succeed in the core studies period from SBC Year 2 (UK Year 1) to SBC Year 3 (UK Year 2). During SBC Year 1 (UK Year 0), all students will study specially designed English, mathematics and in addition they will study a number of basic courses related to their respective subjects.

SBC Year 1 and Year 2 programmes are designed by SBC’s UK partner universities working jointly via NCUK they are widely recognised as transferrable to more than 20 UK universities including the nine SBC UK partner universities.

Native English and Near-Native English language speaking students are not normally required to enter SBC Year 1 (UK Year 0) but may enter directly into SBC Year 2 (UK Year 1).

4+0 Route (Non-Native English Language Speakers)
3+0 Route (Native English and Near-Native English Language Speakers)

SBC Students that successfully complete SBC Year 2 (UK Year 1) of the programme may elect for the 4 + 0 degree progression route.

At the end of the second year, depending on exam and coursework performance, students will again be advised by their tutors and be able to choose the subject and the university most suited for them to continue their academic programmes.

The current subjects which can be studied for 4 years at SBC in Shanghai (without any period of study at the UK campus), leading to the qualification of a British Bachelors Degree Certificate are:

1) BA (Hons) Events Management - The University of Huddersfield
2) BA (Hons) Business Management - Sheffield Hallam University
3) BEng (Hons) Industrial Electronics and Control Engineering - Liverpool John Moores University
4) BEng (Hons) Manufacturing Systems Engineering - Liverpool John Moores University

3+1 Route (Non-Native English Language Speakers)
2+1 Route (Native English and Near-Native English Language Speakers)

SBC Students that successfully complete SBC Year 2 (UK Year 1) of the programme may elect for the 3+1 degree progression route.

SBC students that elect for the 3+1 degree progression route, depending on exam and coursework performance at the end of SBC Year 2 (UK Year 1), will be advised by their tutors and be able to choose the subject and the university most suited for them to continue their academic programmes for SBC Year 3 (UK Year 2) at SBC in Shanghai before attending SBC Year 4 (UK Year 3) at a campus in the UK.

2+1+1 Route (Non-Native English Language Speakers)
1+1+1 Route (Native English and Near-Native English Language Speakers)

SBC Students that successfully complete SBC Year 2 (UK Year 1) of the programme may elect for the 2+1+1 degree progression route.

SBC students that elect for the 2+1+1 degree progression route, depending on exam and coursework performance at the end of SBC Year 2 (UK Year 1), will be advised by their tutors and be able to choose the subject and the university most suited for them to continue their academic programmes at a campus in the UK for SBC Year 3 (UK Year 2), and then returning to the Shanghai campus for SBC Year 4 (UK Year 3).

3) BEng (Hons) Industrial Electronics and Control Engineering - Liverpool John Moores University

2+2 Route (Non-Native English Language Speakers)
1+2 Route (Native English and Near-Native English Language Speakers)

SBC Students that successfully complete SBC Year 2 (UK Year 1) of the programme may elect for the 2+2 degree progression route into NCUK partner institution Year 2.

Depending on exam and coursework performance at the end of SBC Year 2 (UK Year 1), will be advised by their tutors and be able to choose the subject and the university most suited for them to continue their academic programmes at a campus in the UK.

The study abroad options include the following universities:
The University of Bradford, The University of Huddersfield, Leeds Metropolitan University, The University of Leeds, Liverpool John Moores University, Manchester Metroplitan University, The University of Salford, Sheffield Hallam University, The University of Sheffield

Students of this route may choose from the following subjects:

1) Accounting and Finance Route:
Subjects: Accounting, Accounting and Finance; Business and Finance; and Accounting and Financial Management.

2) General Business Route:
Subjects: Economics and Management; Management; Business Studies; International Business; Business Information Management; Business and HRM; Business Economics; Logistics and Supply Management; Business Enterprise; Business Management; Management with Marketing; Human Resource Management; International Business and Management Studies, Business Information Technology, Business Administration, Advertising Mgmt & Brand Mgmt, and Business Information Technology.

3) Events Management Route:
Subjects: Events Management

4) Electronic and Electrical Engineering Route
Subjects: Computer Science; Software Engineering; Computing in Business; Mechatronics; Electronics and Broadcast Engineering; Telecommunication Engineering; Data Communications Engineering; Computer Control System; Electronic and Electrical Engineering; Electronic Engineering; Electric Engineering with Management; Electronic Engineering with Management; Robotics with Artificial Intelligence; Electronics and Music Technology; Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, and Software Engineering.

5) Mechanical Engineering Route
Subjects: Automotive Engineering; Mechanical & Marine Engineering; Mechatronics; Mechanical Engineering with Industry Management; Mechanical Engineering with a year in industry; Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Management; Motor Sports Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; and Mechanical & Computer Aided Engineering.
