Xian Jiaotong-Liverpool University
Xian Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is an international joint-venture university founded by Xian Jiaotong University in China and the University of Liverpool in the UK. As a Sino-foreign cooperative university, it captures the essence of both parent universities and is the largest of its kind approved by China’s Ministry of Education.
XJTLU is located in Suzhou Industrial Park, to the east of Suzhou’s historic center, and is easily accessed by plane, train and bus. It is only 24 minutes due west of Shanghai on the fastest high-speed train, and within easy reach of a number of international airports, making it the perfect location for events.
XJTLU offers degree programmes in the fields of science, engineering, business, finance, architecture, urban planning, language, and culture. All programmes are taught in English.

Entry Requirements for Undergraduate:
Year One Entry
XJTLU welcomes applications from high-quality candidates in all subjects with appropriate high school or equivalent qualifications. Students will normally be expected to have a high standing in their high school performance with a minimum B average in all subjects as well as relevant subjects.
Minimum English language requirement: IELTS: 5.0 (min 4.5 in all sections) or TOEFL: 62 (iBT)
Year Two Entry
Students who have completed A-levels or International Baccalaureate (or equivalent) will be considered for entry into Year Two, different programmes have different subject-relevant requirements.
A-level: BBB
IB Diploma: 30 points
AP Exams or ACT Tests – High school diploma with a GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above, plus:
- 3 AP exams 4 or
- SAT I: 1280 or ACT: 27, and 2 AP exams 4
Minimum English language requirement: IELTS 6.5 (min 5.5 in all sections) or TOEFL: 90 (iBT) (min 21 in any skill)
Transfer Application
You can apply to XJTLU as a transfer student if you are enrolled as a full-time student at another institution. Please contact us for further details.
Entry Requirements for Postgraduate:
UK: Upper second class honours (2:1) or equivalent. North America: 3.0 Cumulative GPA (out of 4) or 3.2 Cumulative GPA in the final two years of your undergraduate program.
Minimum English language requirement:
If English is not your native language or if you have not studied in English at degree level, you will need to provide evidence of your level of English proficiency. You should normally possess an appropriate IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or equivalent score. The level of English required depends on the program you're applying for. Exemption or onsite Password English language test is available.
Tuition:
Undergraduate
RMB 93,000 per academic year

Tuition fees at masters level vary depending on the programme being studied.
Scholarship: 10% to 50% of tuition
Degree Certificates:
XJTLU undergraduate students are rewarded with a UK degree from the University of Liverpool and Xian Jiaotong-Liverpool University degree approved by the Ministry of Education in China.
